The Eagles scored the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 with their track “One of These Nights” on August 2, 1975. The song served as the title track to the band’s fourth studio album and became their second number one single, following “The Best of My Love.”

“One of These Nights” broke into the top spot amidst a wave of disco artists at the time, knocking "The Hustle" by Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony off the top spot. The track held on at number one for one week before it was succeeded by The Bee Gees’ “Jive Talkin’.”

Producer Bill Szymczyk looked after the session and says that while, “One of These Nights” was new creative ground for the band, it wasn’t too big of a challenge:

“It wasn’t all that difficult to get them into a new groove. Glenn Frey is an R&B fanatic and Don Henley is an excellent drummer with a great time sense,” he explained to Billboard.
