Singer Aaliyah’s life tragically ended on August 25, 2001, in the Bahamas. A small plane carrying the singer and her entourage crashed shortly after leaving the runway at Marsh Harbor. Aaliyah was returning to the states from a video shoot. It was determined that her plane was overloaded with equipment and could not handle the weight. Aaliyah’s self-titled third album rose to the top on the Billboard 200 in the weeks after her death, and the posthumous single, “Rock the Boat,” hit number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. A posthumous album “I Care 4 U,” which featured unreleased tracks and Aaliyah’s hit singles, was released in 2002.
