Jerry Lee Lewis’ fifth wife, Shawn Michelle Stephens, was found dead at the couple's home on August 24, 1983. She died of a methadone overdose. The pair had been married less than three months. Shawn was Lewis' second consecutive wife to die under less than natural circumstances; his fourth wife, Elizabeth Gunn Pate, drowned in their pool. Prior to these tragedies, Lewis caused a scandal by marrying his 13-year-old cousin - when the press got wind of it in the late 1950s, it seriously marred his career.
