Matchbox 20 released their mega-popular major label debut “Yourself Or Someone Like You” on October 1, 1996. Behind such hits as “Push,” “3 a.m.” and “Real World,” the album reached number five on the Billboard 200. The success of the LP would sustain the band for a number of years; they didn’t release another album until 2000’s “Mad Season,” with frontman Rob Thomas appearing on Carlos Santana’s Grammy-winning song, “Smooth,” in the meantime. To date, “Yourself or Someone Like You” has sold more than 15 million copies and has been certified diamond by the RIAA.
