Wintrust Financial Turns To Profit In Q3 - Update

Tuesday, Wintrust Financial Corp. (WTFC) reported a profit for the third-quarter compared to a loss in the previous year third-quarter.

Wintrust recorded net income applicable to common shares of $27.3 million compared to net loss of $3.0 million last year. Earnings per share were $1.07 compared to loss per share of $0.13 a year ago.

On average, ten analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a profit of $0.27 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net interest income increased to $87.7 million from $60.7 million prior year. Total non-interest income surged to $150.7 million from $22.1 million in the previous year.

Net income applicable to common shares for the nine months was $30.2 million or $1.25 per share, compared to $18.0 million or $0.75 per share for the same period in 2008.

WTFC is currently being traded at $29.66 down $2.50 or 7.77% on a volume of 1.09 million shares on the Nasdaq.
