Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling To Distribute Campbell Soup Products In Russia - Update

Tuesday, Campbell Soup Co. (CPB) announced signing a long-term deal with Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Co. S.A. for the distribution of "Campbell's Home Classics" concentrated broth and other soup products in Russia. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

While Campbell will oversee consumer and market research, brand management, marketing, product development and production, Coca-Cola Hellenic will take care of distribution, sales, in-store marketing and trade receivables.

Campbell noted that Coca-Cola Hellenic was currently distributing "Campbell's Home Classics" products in the Moscow region, and has plans to expand distribution to over 100 cities and 12 regions of Russia in August 2009.

Commenting on the deal, Larry McWilliams, the president of Campbell International stated, "Working with Coca-Cola Hellenic, we will be able to accelerate distribution throughout Russia, expanding more quickly into additional markets."

Campbell noted that soup consumption in Russia was more than double that of the U.S, making Russia the world's second largest soup consuming market after China.

CPB is currently trading up 47 cents at $27.82.
