Marshall & Ilsley Corp (MI) reported fourth-quarter net loss attributable to M&I common shareholders of $259.5 million, or $0.54 per share, as compared to a net loss attributable to M&I common shareholders of $1.89 billion, or $7.25 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2008.

On average, 21 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report loss of $0.48 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net Interest income (FTE) declined to $406.1 million from $469.0 million in the prior year quarter.

Total non-interest revenues grew to $243.8 million from $166.1 million in the same quarter a year earlier.

Ten analysts estimated revenues of $563.98 million.
