Monday, Aer Lingus Group Plc (AERL.L) announced the appointment of Montie Brewer and Nicola Shaw as independent, non-executive directors with immediate effect. These two new appointments are part of Aer Lingus' ongoing commitment to best corporate practice and to board refreshment.
Montie Brewer is an airline veteran and a recognized industry innovator in airline pricing, sales and distribution strategies. Most recently Brewer was President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada, where he implemented many of the changes that are currently underway at Aer Lingus. Brewer is currently a non-executive Director of Allegiant Travel Company, recognized as one of North America's most innovative airline and travel groups. Brewer holds a BA in Business Administration & Transportation Management from Michigan State University.
Nicola Shaw is Director, Bus - UK, Ireland and Germany for FirstGroup Plc, a transport company operating in Europe and North America, and transporting around 2.5 billion passengers a year. Shaw previously worked in senior positions in both the UK Strategic Rail Authority and the Office of the Rail Regulator. Shaw was also a transport consultant with Bechtel and Halcrow Fox and holds a BA in Modern History and Economics from Oxford University and an MSc in Transport from MIT.

Both consumer prices and producer costs have started to reflect the effect of supply shocks due to the Middle East conflict. In Europe, GDP data was in focus, while inflation data from China dominated the news flow in Asia.
