U.S. Mortgage Applications Decline - MBA

U.S. mortgage applications decreased in the week ended September 26 after rising in the previous three weeks, latest survey data from the Mortgage Bankers Association showed on Wednesday.

The market composite index, which measures the house purchase mortgage loan application volume, fell a seasonally adjusted 12.7 percent from the previous week, when it rose 0.6 percent.

The refinance index slumped 21 percent and the purchase index dropped 1 percent, the MBA survey showed.

The European Central Bank became the first major central bank to move in response to the rising inflationary pressures in the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East. In North America, the U.S. inflation and trade data as well as Canada’s central bank decision gained attention. The Chinese trade data was the main news in Asia.
