Spain's current account deficit declined sharply in April from a year ago due the decrease in visible trade deficit, the Bank of Spain reported Friday.
The current account shortfall decreased to EUR 343.3 million in April from EUR 1.55 billion in the same period of last year.
The deficit on trade in goods narrowed to EUR 907.7 million from EUR 2.94 billion a year ago. Meanwhile, the surplus on services decreased to EUR 2.42 billion from EUR 2.58 billion.
The income account showed a shortfall of EUR 937.6 million compared to EUR 922.7 million last year. The negative balance on current transfers widened to EUR 921 million from EUR 275.2 million.
