Today In Music History - June 9

TLC singer Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes torched a home owned by her boyfriend, NFL star Andre Rison, on June 9, 1994. The singer reportedly became enraged with Rison after he and friends returned to the Alpharetta, Georgia mansion after a long night of partying.

Lopes reportedly set a pile of cardboard boxes on fire in an empty hot tub on the property. The blaze soon grew out of control, eventually consuming the entire home. Lopes also reportedly slapped Rison and smashed two of his cars.

She turned herself over to authorities and was charged with first-degree arson and criminal damage to property. Her bail was set at $510, 000 and Rison refused to comment on the incident at the time. It was the second dust up for the couple, who made headlines after Rison was arrested for allegedly hitting Lopes in the grocery store parking lot in 1993.
