The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday that office products maker OfficeMax Inc. (OMX) has voluntarily recalled about 216 thousand units of OfficeMax Task Chairs, citing a risk that the back and the base post of the chair can break while in use, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

The recalled China-made task chairs involve model numbers OM182 and OM96614 with charcoal or dark charcoal in colors and having black plastic arms and a rolling plastic and metal base.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that OfficeMax has received about 35 reports of the chair backs or posts breaking, including 15 reports of injuries involving lacerations, muscle strains, contusions and concussions.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products, and return them to any OfficeMax store for a full refund or a $55 gift card if the consumer does not have a receipt.

OMX closed Monday's trading at $11.13, down $0.18 or 1.59% on the NYSE.
