Technology products distributor Tech Data Corp. (TECD), Wednesday said it formed two new specialized business units namely Unified Communications and Network Security to further augment the go-to market support for its Networking Product Marketing Division aiming resellers and vendors. Tech Data made the announcement at its 2009 Vendor Partner Summit in Orlando.
As a result, Tech Data's marketing division now has four specialized Business Units including Network Security, Physical Security, Unified Communications and Wireless. Product offering of the divisions includes bridges, gateways, routers, switches, security appliances and network management devices, as well as infrastructure hardware, components and accessories.
Commenting on the announcement, Tech Data noted that Unified communications delivers new operational efficiencies for end users of all sizes. Meanwhile, the network is becoming more exposed, creating an array of security issues, especially for key vertical markets implementing these technologies like government, education and healthcare that need to protect sensitive information.
For them, Unified communications offers an integrated network to access all their communications tools irrespective of the place where they are or the device they are using. 3Com, Cisco, HP ProCurve, LifeSize, Nortel and Polycom are the vendors participating with Unified Communications SBU.
The Network Security SBU will support network security appliances from vendors like Fortinet, SECNAP, SonicWALL and WatchGuard, as well as solutions from leading security vendors like McAfee, Symantec and Trend Micro. The Network Security SBU will begin supporting resellers by year's end.
TECD is currently trading at $43.41, up $0.62 or 1.45%, on the Nasdaq.
