Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. (COG) Monday reported third quarter net income of $38.9 million or $0.38 per share, compared to $67.0 million or $0.65 per share in the prior year period. Excluding certain items, the recent quarter's net income was $42.6 million or $0.41 per share, compared to $60.1 million or $0.58 per share a year-ago.
On average, 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.36 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating revenues for the quarter were $207.2 million, compared to $244.8 million in the preceding year period. Eight Wall Street analysts expected revenues of $205.30 million.
