United States Cellular Corp. (USM) reported third-quarter net income attributable to the company of $35.638 million compared to $89.949 million last year. Earnings per share attributable to shareholders decreased to $0.41 from $1.02 a year ago.
On average, 7 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $0.56 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total operating revenues were $1.058 billion compared to $1.092 billion last year. Analysts expected revenue of $1.04 billion for the quarter.
The company said its guidance for the year ending Dec. 31, 2009 is unchanged from previous guidance.
