PPL's Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant Granted License Renewal For Another 20 Years - Quick Facts

Ppl Corp. (PPL), Tuesday said that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved a 20-year extension of the operating licenses for its reactors at PPL's Susquehanna nuclear power plant in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The license for Unit 1 and Unit 2 have been extended to 2042 and 2044, respectively.

The company noted that the decision by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is based on thorough safety and environmental reviews of PPL's application submitted in September 2006. The Commission reviewed thousands of pages documenting safety and environmental studies, and programs and processes for managing equipment.
