Simon Cowell says he wants to have David Bowie appear on his U.K. talent show, X-Factor.

In an interview with NME, the music mogul said he wants to keep the show from getting stale.

"I'm thinking we should do something for David Bowie," Cowell said. "I think that would be good. Just because he's a great songwriter."

Cowell also listed Dr. Dre and Eminem as stars he'd like to have on the show.

This isn't the first time this year that Bowie has been talked about for a high-profile U.K. appearance. The singer was rumored to be ready to play the Glastonbury festival, but he eventually shot down the speculation.

Meanwhile, rumors emerged this week that Cowell would leave American Idol after this season. Cowell's brother said that Simon wanted to concentrate on launching an American version of X Factor in 2011.
