BHEL Bags Contract Of Electro-Mechanical Package For Rs.1016 Cr.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited or BHEL said that it bagged a major contract for the electro-mechanical equipment package for a 1,200 MW (6x200 MW) Hydroelectric project in Bhutan.

The order includes manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the electro-mechanical equipment for the 1,200 MW Punatsangchu-I Hydroelectric project and is valued at Rs.1,016 crore.

The company bagged the order from Punatsangchu Hydroelectric Project Authority (PHPA), Bhutan and is the single largest contract for it in the hydro electric power generation business segment.

The project is being set-up under a bilateral agreement between the Govt. of India, and the Royal Govt. of Bhutan. It is located about 80 kms from Thimphu on the left bank of the Punatsangchu river in Western Bhutan, the project is an environment friendly run-of-the-river scheme.
