MELA Sciences, Inc. (MELA) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is moving the General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel meeting for MelaFind, which was originally scheduled for August 26, 2010, to November 2010.

The Irvington, New York-based company filed Pre-Market Approval application for MelaFind in June 2009. MelaFind is a non-invasive and objective computer vision system intended to aid in the detection of early melanoma.
Melanoma is a form of skin cancer, responsible for approximately 80% of skin cancer fatalities. Melanoma is the most common cancer in women age 25 to 29 and the number one cancer killer of women age 30 to 35.
