IBM Corp. (IBM) reported second quarter operating earnings of $3.09 per share after the close Monday, up from $2.62 per share in the previous year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $3.03. The company also increased its full year 2011 operating EPS guidance to at least $13.25, from prior expectations of at least $13.15. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $13.22.
IBM Corp. has gapped open sharply higher Tuesday morning and is now up 4.77 at $180.05. The stock has risen above a 2-week range and has set a new high for the year.
