TUI Travel Plc (TT.L) announced that Johan Lundgren is appointed to the newly created position of Deputy Chief Executive, TUI Travel PLC, effective immediately. Currently, Johan is the Managing Director of TUI Travel's Northern Region within its Mainstream Sector and a PLC Board Director.
Following Johan's promotion to Deputy Chief Executive, he would have overall responsibility for the Mainstream Sector of the Group. Volker Bottcher, Managing Director, Central Europe and Bart Brackx, Managing Director, Western Europe, would now report into him. David Burling, Commercial Director, TUI UK & Ireland is being promoted to Managing Director, TUI UK & Ireland and would continue to report into Johan.
For the Group to operate with maximum efficiency and drive through necessary change more quickly, the company said it would be taking a unified approach across its mainstream businesses.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
