Lady Gaga has unveiled her own social network called "Little Monsters."
The Mother Monster described the site in an official statement encouraging her fans to "share [their] passion and creativity in a community full of art, acceptance, monsters and Gaga."
The site went live July 9 with a message from Gaga: "Welcome Home, Little Monsters!"
The site, similar to Facebook, is powered by Backplane, which helps artists curate their social network presences.
Gaga's manager Troy Carter spoke on the site, sharing his belief that it could be the future for major artists:
"There will be a time where we'll be able to release music through the Backplane, where we'll be able to release music videos through there, we're going to be able to sell all our tickets through there. Over a period of time, we'll be able to build that audience so they'll know exactly where to come," he said.
