The Indian rupee that opened lower against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday recovered slightly shortly thereafter.
The rupee is now trading at 54.98 per dollar, compared to early 2-day low of 55.0825. The Indian markets were closed yesterday on account of Christmas holiday.
