The Kinks have released several details about the upcoming re-issue of their 1971 album, Muswell Hillbillies. The original version featured 12 songs, but the updated version will feature 25.
According to the Second Disc, the reissue, from Sanctuary Records, features two previously released bonus tracks plus 11 odds and ends from the sessions, such as demos, remixes and live tracks.
Muswell Hillbillies was not a critical or commercial success upon its release, although time has been kind to the record. Rolling Stone magazine once called it the signature songwriting effort from Ray Davies.
The LP hits on October 15, and, according to Amazon, the CD version goes for $29.47, while MP3, vinyl and audio cassette versions will also be available.
