Genworth Financial Inc. (GNW) Tuesday reported third-quarter profit of $96 million or $0.99 per share, up from $85 million or $0.82 per share in the same period last year.
Operating income for the quarter was $91 million or $0.94 per share. On average, 11 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.25 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net premiums earned was $143 million, $4 million lower than last year. Investment income totaled $51 million, up from $44 million last year.
