Chris Cagle was arrested after running a red light in Greenville, Texas over the weekend. He was booked in Hunt County Jail on suspicion of DWI, while getting his release sometime later.
The penalty for a Class B misdemeanor DWI is a fine of up to $2,000, six months in the slammer, or both. Cagle's reps have not returned calls to various sources.
It is the first arrest for Cagle, who was booked for domestic assault in 2008. Speaking with the Boot that year, he said that he'd cleaned up his act:
"I quit drinking. I quit smoking. I dip Skoal every once in awhile when I get nervous."
His latest album, Back in the Saddle, hit last year and produced two top 20 hits - "Got My Country On" and "Let There Be Cowgirls."
