Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has $450,000 invested in what promises to be the world's longest aircraft, according to the BBC show Top Gear. The aircraft is in development by Hybrid Air Vehicles and is a blimp-like craft stretching over 100-yards in length.
The craft has been dubbed the HAV Airlander, and Dickinson says that he hopes it will mark a new stage in aviation:
"It's a game-changer, in terms of things we can have in the air and things we can do. The airship has always been with us; it's just been waiting for the technology to catch up," Dickinson told the BBC.
He also spoke on the Airland itself: "It seizes my imagination. I want to get in this thing and fly it pole to pole. We'll fly over the Amazon at 20 feet, over some of the world's greatest cities and stream the whole thing on the Internet."
