Reliance Power Ltd. (RPOWER), a part of the Reliance Group, said that its wholly-owned subsidiary Sasan Power Ltd., had commissioned power generation at the fourth 660 MW unit of the 3960 MW (6X660MW) Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP), adding that the balance two units are in advanced stages of construction and would be commissioner over the next few months.
The Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project is the largest integrated power plant and col mining project in the world. Coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines associated with the power project.
With this unit, Reliance Power's generation capacity has crossed 4,500 MW at 4,525 MW, which includes 4,440 MW of thermal capacity and 85 MW of renewable energy based capacity. The company said the implementation of balance units was on track for achieving capacity of nearly 6,000 MW in 2014.
At the BSE, Reliance Power shares are currently trading at Rs.89.25, up 3.90 percent from the previous close.
