Premier Oil Plc (PMO.L,PMOIY.PK) Wednesday said it has appointed Tony Durrant as its chief executive officer effective immediately, succeeding Simon Lockett.
Durrant joined the oil and gas production company in 2005, and has been the finance director since then. Prior to that, he was managing director at Lehman Brothers and head of the European Natural Resources Group.
Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Mike Welton said, "The process to appoint Simon Lockett's successor has been rigorous and comprehensive, including both internal and external candidates."
It was in February this year that Simon Lockett notified the board of his intention to step down. Lockett had stated that after 9 years in the company, it was the appropriate time for a change in leadership as the business moves into its next phase.
Lockett had agreed to remain chief executive officer until a successor has been identified and appointed by the board.
PMO.L is currently trading at 327.4 pence, down 2.53 percent.
