Krist Novoselic and original Nirvana drummer Aaron Burckhard got together last weekend in Aberdeen, Washington to unveil a mural tribute to Nirvana and other alt-rock legends like Soundgarden, Sonic Youth and Mudhoney.
"What sold me on [the mural] is it's not just a Nirvana mural; there's a community there. When we started playing in Aberdeen, and we started playing in the Northwest, there was an infrastructure; we had support. There was a music community," said Novoselic at the event, according to the Seattle Times.
Burckhard played with Nirvana for the band's first three gigs, before Cobain decided he wasn't a good fit for the band. According to SPIN, he was booted for being moody and for having a "subpar work ethic."
Drummers to come after Burckhard included Dale Crover, Dave Foster, Chad Channing and, finally, Dave Grohl.
