The filmmaker behind the Nirvana documentary Kurt and Courtney has announced plans for a new doc about Whitney Houston. Director Nick Broomfield will explore the life and times of Houston in the new film, which is being created in association with BBC2.
The Houston family also made recent headlines when it was revealed that her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown died of a combination of drugs and water. The 22-year-old, who died in July, was in a coma for several months after being found unresponsive in a bathtub on January 31.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office found marijuana, alcohol, sedatives and anxiety meds in her system.
Bobbi's estate has filed a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit against her former boyfriend Nick Gordon, claiming he beat her after an all-night "cocaine and drinking binge," before giving her a "toxic cocktail" which lulled her into unconsciousness. Gordon's lawyer has called the claim "slanderous."
