Conexant Systems Chief Executive Officer Dwight Decker To Retire - Update

Monday, Conexant Systems, Inc. (CNXT), a provider of semiconductor solutions for broadband communications, revealed retirement plans of its Chief Executive Officer Dwight Decker, indicated to retire in the fall of 2007. Decker headed Conexant since its inception following a spin off from Rockwell International in 1999, expect for a brief period time before he returned to once again head Conexant at the behest of company's board of directors.

The Newport Beach, California based company said a search for a successor to Decker had been initiated with the setting up of a search committee, while Decker will continue to head the company until a successor is identified. Upon his retirement, Decker will continue to be involved with Conexant as the non-Executive Chairman of the Board.

Decker said "The Conexant team has accomplished a great deal in each of these areas over the past two and one-half years. We face continuing challenges, most particularly the weaker-than-planned revenue outlook that we outlined earlier this quarter, but the team and I are committed to working through these near-term challenges."

Decker headed Conexant since 1999 through February 2004 until the company's merger with GlobespanVirata following a spin-off from Rockwell international. He was made the non-Executive Chairman of the Board, however, returned to once again head the company in November 2004. Decker had an association since 1989 with Rockwell International and held important positions including that of Senior Vice President and President of Rockwell Semiconductor Systems.

A doctorate in Applied Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology, Decker is also the non-Executive Chairman of the board for Skyworks Solutions, Inc. and Mindspeed Technologies, both communications related companies. He also figures in the board of directors for BCD Semiconductors, a China-based analog component maker, Newport Media, a private semiconductor company and insurance company, Pacific Life.

CNXT is gaining $0.01 or 0.60% and currently trades at $1.69, on a volume of 3.46 million shares on the Nasdaq.
