Crypto exchange Bitfinex has partnered with software company Connamara to launch an open-source Financial Information eXchange or FIX, digital asset gateway for institutional traders aiming to enter the digital asset markets.

"Through this collaboration we aim to combine Connamara's financial technology expertise with our experience to improve the efficiency of digital asset markets and allow for streamlined access to cryptocurrency trading," said Paolo Ardoino, Bitfinex CTO.

FIX is an industry standard electronic communications protocol that facilitates data transfer between financial institutions. FIX is a common language spoken by many existing institutional client systems and frameworks.

Bitfinex has launched the FIX gateway to provide high-performance and reliable solution on its crypto-trading platform to facilitate easier access and digital asset liquidity for brokers, institutions, and professional traders around the world.

The introduction of FIX gateway will enable institutional traders to reduce the time and effort required to connect to the Bitfinex platform by using standard messages supported by a FIX gateway.

Daniel Curry, Head of Business Development at Connamara, said, "They have been a pioneering firm in the digital asset markets since 2012 and it is exciting to collaborate with them as they lead the way in the adoption of the FIX protocol for their rapidly growing industry."
