Sturgill Simpson has released a teaser for his new anime film, titled Sound & Fury.
Simpson also announced on Saturday that the film will premiere on Netflix this fall.
The country music singer-songwriter also announced a new album with the same title.
In the film, American rock music and Japanese animation are merged in a revolutionary new way, says a synopsis.
Produced and based on a story by Simpson entitled "Sound & Fury," the film was written and directed by Jumpei Mizusaki.
Sturgill said Sound & Fury is his most psychedelic and heaviest album.
"We went in without any preconceived notions and came out with a really sleazy, steamy rock n roll record," Simpson said.
He added, "I had this idea that it'd be really cool to animate some of these songs, and we ended up with a futuristic, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, samurai film."
