A federal judge has halted a non-fungible token auction of Jay-Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Judge John Cronan of Manhattan federal court granted the rapper's former label Roc-A-Fella Records a temporary restraining order against co-founder Damon Dash, thus blocking a planned NFT auction of his copyright interest in Reasonable Doubt.
In a lawsuit filed against Dash, Roc-A-Fella argued that he had "no right to sell the copyright or any individual ownership interests in Reasonable Doubt because he did not the own the rights to Jay's debut project."
According to TMZ, Dash clarified that he wasn't just trying to sell Jay's album, but his entire stake in Roc-A-Fella. Dame claimed Jay-Z gave him an offer to buy out his 1/3 stake in the company, but it was too low.
