After moving sharply higher early in the session, stocks continue to see substantial strength in afternoon trading on Friday. The major averages are extending the upward move seen going into the close of the previous session.
The major averages have moved roughly sideways in recent trading, hovering near their best levels of the day. The Dow is up 657.89 points or 2.1 percent at 31,335.25, the Nasdaq is up 265.85 points or 2.4 percent at 11,498.05 and the S&P 500 is up 89.93 points or 2.4 percent at 3,885.66.
