Country-pop icon Shania Twain will play Mrs. Potts, the lovable mother of the teacups, in ABC's upcoming live-action special "Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration."
H.E.R., Josh Groban, Rita Moreno, Martin Short and David Alan Grier round out the cast of the "Beauty and the Beast" special, which is set to be aired on ABC on December 15.
The special will be a "two-hour reimagining" of the fairytale, according to a press release issued by ABC.
"I am unbelievably honoured... and excited... and all of the emotions(!!) to announce that I will be joining the cast of #BeautyAndTheBeast30th to play the part of my favourite character — Mrs. Potts," Twain wrote on Instagram.
"And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't pay tribute to the iconic Angela Lansbury, I mean she IS Mrs. Potts and the reason why this character is so beloved. To follow in the foot steps of such an icon is a huge honour and I hope to do the part justice," she added, referring to the late actress who dubbed for Mrs. Potts in the 1991 Disney animated adaptation of the film.
Shania also posted a photo of her sipping from a teacup while wearing a hot pink suit.
