CymaBay Therapeutics Inc. (CBAY) is getting acquired by Gilead Sciences Inc. (GILD) for $32.50 per share in cash or a total equity value of $4.3 billion.
The company's lead drug candidate is Seladelpar, being developed for the management of primary biliary cholangitis. Seladelpar is under priority review by the FDA, with a decision due on August 14, 2024.
The acquisition of CymaBay complements Gilead's existing liver portfolio.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
