The Flaming Lips have announced a reissue of The Soft Bulletin on vinyl on September 6th in celebration of the album's 25th anniversary.
The vinyl follows last year's 20th anniversary limited-edition vinyl of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. The 25th-anniversary edition of The Soft Bulletin is packaged as a 2xLP with Zoetrope designs courtesy of artist Drew Tetz and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne. The reissue will also feature brand new sleeve artwork and an insert with text written by Coyne.
The Soft Bulletin was the band's ninth studio album and was released by Warner Bros. Records on May 17, 1999, in the United Kingdom, and on June 22, 1999, in the United States. The album was released to widespread acclaim and was hailed by critics as a departure from their previous guitar-heavy alternative rock sound into a more layered, intricately arranged work.
The Flaming Lips are currently celebrating the The Soft Bulletin's follow-up, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, on tour.
