Immuron Limited (IMRN), an Australian biopharmaceutical company, announced on Wednesday a new research collaboration with Monash University to develop therapeutic drug candidates targeting antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The collaboration will focus on two key areas: one project will aim to develop broad-spectrum therapeutic drugs targeting bacterial DNA transfer mechanisms that contribute to AMR, while the second project will focus on Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), a significant healthcare concern.

The collaboration will utilize Immuron's technology platform and Monash University's Biomedicine Discovery Institute. Initial research activities will be funded within Immuron's existing research budget, with no additional funding required at this stage.

AMR poses a growing threat to healthcare systems worldwide, and the collaboration aims to address this challenge with innovative treatments.

After the initial research results are available, Immuron and Monash University will discuss further steps for joint development or commercialization.

Immuron continues to advance its pipeline, including treatments for autoimmune diseases and other infectious conditions.

Currently, IMRN is trading at $1.97 down by 1.50%.
