Avacta Group Plc (AVCT.L),a life sciences company developing next-generation peptide drug conjugates or PDC, on Thursday announced promising new data from its Phase 1a trial of AVA6000 in patients with salivary gland cancers or SGC.

AVA6000, the company's first PDC, combines doxorubicin with Avacta's proprietary pre|CISION peptide, designed to target tumors more precisely.

The data revealed significant tumor shrinkage in five out of ten patients treated with 250 mg/m² and above doses, including one partial response (45% tumor shrinkage) and four minor responses (10-19.5% tumor shrinkage), with a 90% disease control rate.

The safety profile of AVA6000 continued to show a reduction in severe hematologic and cardiac toxicities compared to conventional doxorubicin.

Following these positive results, the company is expanding the trial with three Phase 1b cohorts focused on triple-negative breast cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, and salivary gland cancer.

Christina Coughlin, CEO of Avacta, expressed optimism, stating, "These data underscore the transformative potential of our pre|CISION PDC platform in treating cancers like SGC, where there is no standard of care. We are excited to begin enrolling patients in the expansion cohorts and further investigate AVA6000's potential in other solid tumors."

Avacta plans to continue exploring AVA6000's efficacy in additional cancers with high unmet needs, aiming for significant breakthroughs in cancer treatment.

Currently, AVCT.L is trading at $51.54 up by 4.16%.
