Austria-based semiconductor business ams-OSRAM AG (AUKUF) on Wednesday reported sharply lower loss for the first quarter in the absence of certain charges. However, it reported a decrease in revenue for the period.
Net result from continuing operations was a loss of 82 million euros or 0.83 euro per share as compared with a loss of 710 million euros or 7.19 euro per share in the first quarter of the prior year. The lower loss is attributed to the net impairment charges/ provisions on cancellation of the microLED project on 28 February 2024.
Adjusted net result was a loss of 23 million euros or 0.23 euro per share as compared with a loss of 35 million euros or 0.35 euro per share in the prior-year period.
Revenues declined to 820 million euros from 847 million euros in the first quarter of 2024. The quarter's revenues stood above the midpoint of the guided range of 750 million euros to 850 million euros.
Given the improving order entry during the first quarter, the company expects an improved demand for its automotive semiconductor products in the second quarter of 2025. The group expects second quarter revenues to range between 725 and 825 million euros assuming a EUR/USD exchange rate of 1.13. The company expects adj. EBITDA to come in at 18.5 percent +/-1.5 percent.
The company continues to expect a stronger second half mainly due to product ramp-ups and seasonality.
