Inventiva (IVA), a clinical-stage biopharma company developing oral therapies for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis or MASH, has received a $10 million milestone payment from Chia Tai-Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd - CTTQ, a subsidiary of Sino Biopharm.

This follows the completion of the second tranche of its structured financing, raising €115.6 million in gross proceeds.

The payment is part of the licensing and collaboration agreement signed in September 2022 and amended in October 2024, under which CTTQ is developing and commercializing Inventiva's lead drug candidate, lanifibranor, in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. The agreement entitles Inventiva to up to $265 million in additional milestone payments, along with low single-digit royalties on future net sales.

Lanifibranor, based on positive Phase 2b NATIVE trial results, received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from both the U.S. FDA in 2020 and China's NMPA in 2023, potentially expediting its development. CTTQ is participating in the Phase 3 NATiV3 trial with over 60 clinical sites in China and has completed a Phase 1 bridging study confirming no significant ethnic differences—an important step toward regulatory submission in China.

Tuesday, IVA closed at $3.46, or 14.57% higher on the NasdaqGM.
