Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (NWARF) said on Friday that it recorded pre-tax profit of NOK 1.06 billion in the second quarter. Operating profit for the same period came in at NOK 1.25 billion, with a 12.2 percent operating margin.
The low-cost airline operator said that liquidity rose to NOK 13.8 billion in the second quarter, up NOK 3.4 billion from the previous quarter, helped by solid operational cash flow and financing for ten earlier acquired aircraft.
Norwegian Air Shuttle said that it will distribute a dividend of NOK 0.90 per share in August. The dividend has been approved by the Board and funded mainly from the dividend fund and is supported by full repayment of the outstanding corporate bond, the company added.
The company said that in the second quarter, it ferried 7.6 million passengers, out of which 6.5 million flied Norwegian and 1.1 million with Widerøe. Passenger numbers rose year-on-year by 192,000 for Norwegian and 82,000 for Widerøe. Load factors improved to 85.2 percent for Norwegian and 73.9 percent for Widerøe, Norwegian Air Shuttle added.
Commenting on the results, Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, said the company is seeing a lot of positives going into the second half of 2025."
According to Karlsen, the company has reported nearly 10 percent more ticket sales from last year, acquired 13 leased aircraft, and also signed a deal to purchase 11 CFM LEAP-1B spare engines to improve its fleet strategy.
