Hyundai Steel Co., Ltd. (004020.KS), a South Korean steel maker, on Thursday reported a surge in net profit for the second quarter. However, the company posted a decline in revenue.
For the three-month period, the company registered a net income of KRW 37 billion, higher than KRW 1 billion in the same period last year.
Operating profit stood at KRW 102 billion as against the prior year's KRW 98 billion.
Hyundai Steel, said: "Increased volume and lower raw material prices along with improved subsidiary profits allow company to post positive operating profits."
Sales volumes moved up to 4526 kt from the prior year's 4394 kt.
Revenue was KRW 5.946 trillion, down from KRW 6.041 trillion in the previous year.
