China Telecom Corporation Limited (601728.SS), a Chinese telecom company, on Thursday reported a rise in net profit for the first half, helped by increased revenue.
For the six-month period to June 30, the company recorded a net profit of RMB23.017 billion, higher than RMB21.812 billion in the same period last year. Net income per share was RMB0.25 as against RMB0.24 per share a year ago.
Profit before taxation moved up to RMB29.595 billion from the prior year's RMB28.239 billion. Operating profit stood at RMB28.549 billion, compared with RMB27.260 billion a year ago. Revenue was RMB 271.469 billion, up from the previous year's RMB268.011 billion.
The company will pay an interim dividend of RMB0.1812 per share (HK$0.199264) on or before September 30 to shareholders of record as of September 3.
