Stocks have moved mostly higher during trading on Wednesday, largely offsetting the pullback seen in the previous session. The major averages have all moved to the upside, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq leading the way.
In recent trading, the major averages have reached new highs for the session. The Nasdaq is up 178.73 points or 0.8 percent at 22,967.10, the S&P 500 is up 35.18 points or 0.5 percent at 6,749.77 and the Dow is up 133.10 points or 0.3 percent at 46,736.08.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
