Energiekontor Cuts FY25 Earnings Before Taxes Outlook

Due to project delays in Germany and changing conditions for several wind energy projects in the United Kingdom, Energiekontor AG (EKT.DE) cut its earnings before taxes outlook for the 2025 financial year.

The company now expects Group earnings before taxes (EBT) to range between 30 million euros and 40 million euros, significantly lower than the previously forecasted range of 70 million euros to 90 million euros.

The original forecast anticipated that most of the EBT would come from project sales in Germany and the UK, including several wind energy projects with expected purchase agreements from institutional investors by the end of 2025. However, despite ongoing negotiations and due diligence, the company now believes that while some agreements may still be finalized this year, their financial impact will largely shift to 2026.

A key reason for this shift is that critical conditions for these transactions are unlikely to be met before the end of 2025. Delays caused by regulatory authorities have pushed back objection and appeal deadlines for project approvals. Additionally, the UK's ongoing grid reform has led to delays in announcing and updating grid connection approvals. As a result, many of the earnings contributions originally planned for 2025 will now be realized in the 2026 financial year.
