Fiserv, Inc. (FI) tumbled 43.68 percent to $71.06, down $55.11 in Wednesday trading, after reporting third-quarter results that fell short of analyst estimates. The company posted net income of $792 million, or $1.46 per share, up from $564 million, or $0.98 per share, a year ago.
Fiserv shares opened at $71.36 and moved between $66.58 and $76.64, compared with a previous close of $126.17 on the New York Stock Exchange. Trading volume surged to 64.1 million shares, sharply higher than the average of 4.4 million.
The stock's 52-week range is $66.58 to $238.59.
