Southern Sun Profit Declines In H1

Southern Sun Limited (SSU.JO) Wednesday said that its profit declined in the first half of the year, impacted by higher employee costs and other operating expenses. Income or revenue, however, was up 5 percent from last year, helped by strong domestic performance.

The South African hospitality company posted net profit of 329 million South African Rand or 24.1 cents per share in the first half of 2025, lower than 332 million Rand or 23.8 cents per share in the year-ago period. On an adjusted basis, headline earnings per share climbed to 24.5 cents from 24.0 cents in the prior-year period.

During the six-month period, pre-tax profit declined to 442 million Rand from 454 million Rand in the same period last year.

According to Southern Sun, half-yearly income rose 5 percent to 3.1 billion Rand from 2.97 billion Rand in the corresponding period of 2024.

On the Johannesburg Exchange, the stock ended Tuesday's trading at 902.00 ZAc.
